The European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) promotes research and innovation efforts across Europe by supporting the most impactful technologies in the European Union’s transformation to a low-carbon energy system. It promotes cooperation amongst EU countries, companies, research institutions, and the EU itself.

It has put forward a specific vision for each technology area through setting ambitious targets to be reached in the next decades to place Europe at the forefront of the next generation of low-carbon energy technologies and of energy efficiency.

For each of these technology areas, implementation plans have been developed to reach these targets:

    • Solar Photovoltaics
    • Concentrated Solar Power / Solar Thermal Electricity
    • Offshore Wind Energy
    • Deep Geothermal Energy
    • Ocean Energy
    • Smart Solutions for Energy Consumers
    • Towards Positive Energy Districts for Sustainable Urbanisation
    • Energy Systems
    • Energy Efficiency in Buildings
    • Energy Efficiency in Industry
    • Batteries for E-Mobility and Stationary Storage
    • Renewable Fuels and Bioenergy
